from every snide comment

I won't reach their level
because I know I'm better
Grant my strength
to keep myself whole
A shield
A glue to repair the cracks
so the pieces don't fall
so I can continue on
Grant me power
To control my own life
and make my own way
A path beyond
all the pointlessness
to where I truly belong

Written in about a half hour between two club periods: 10/14/09 & 10/21/09. My teacher read it and said I should eneter it in the fall poetry contest, rather than trying for another one. I'll update if I get chosen for publication. It was sort of a prayer to The Goddess... Poaterd: 10/22/09
